My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I‘m Emma, a wonderful nine year old Shar-Pei. I was rescued from a shelter in Pennsylvania and am looking forward to finding a loving home with a family who will take care of me forever. I was used for breeding during the first six years of my life, then I went to a home for three years. I lived there with six other dogs. When the family could no longer take care of all of us, one of the other older pups and I got sent to the shelter. I was very hurt by this, but I am now happy in my foster home in Virginia Beach where I have a really nice couch for lounging and keeping an eye on the neighborhood. I am also enjoying sleeping on the bed and even crawl under the covers! My foster family is awesome and is taking great care of me. So, it seems that my luck has changed, and all is working out for the best for me :-)

As you can see, I am BEAUTIFUL! I had skin issues but with medications, medicated bathing and good food my skin is looking great. I also had yeasty ears that have been doing great with ear meds and regular cleanings. While at the shelter, I had an episode of Shar-Pei Fever. The nice shelter people took me to the vet, and I made an awesome recovery.

I have been wonderful during my vet appointments. I am friendly and calm and don‘t seem to mind being poked and prodded. I am doing well except that they found that my thyroid levels were very low when doing bloodwork to prepare for my entropion surgery. I need to take medication to normalize by thyroid levels before my surgery. My foster parents have been applying medicated eye cream, and my eyes are less watery and gunky in the meantime.

If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out an application and ask for Emma!
