Pepper is a high energy little boy who will win your heart right from the start! He is a 9 pound dynamo! He just turned one year old in December, but is still very much a puppy and has lots of puppy energy. Pepper is a Shih Tzu mix who is a beautiful beige/sable color with a dark brown/gray face and ears. He is very sweet, friendly and has an extremely playful personality, but he also loves to cuddle up in your lap. He’s a little spitfire and loves to run; he can run and run, and easily tires out his two foster brothers. He loves to play with his toys and chase his foster brothers around the house. He has proven to be a very, very smart guy. He's catching on quickly to commands such as "quiet, sit, stay, crate, down, roll-over, spin around, sit pretty, shake". Pepper is a very vocal boy. His foster parents are working with him on his energetic barking and his new family will need to continue his training in this area. He needs a family who will give him lots of attention, will include him in their daily activities and who will enjoy helping him continue to learn.
Pepper goes to the door and scratches and whines when he needs to go out, and is pretty well housetrained as long as he is taken outside on a regular schedule. He gets along with other respectful dogs, and would be best in a home with another small playful dog. Pepper will be happiest in a household with adults and older, respectful children who have the ability to take him on long walks/runs (3 or more miles) daily, and have a fenced in back yard where he can burn off his energy.
Pepper is in excellent health, is neutered, current on vaccinations, is microchipped and is on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. His adoption fee is $370.00 plus $26.92 sales tax for a total of $396.92. His foster parents would like him to live in the immediate Twin Cities area so they can visit once in a while. They would also like Pepper and his new family to attend our Rescue Reunion which is held each year on the third Saturday in September.
