My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Joe Cocker is the sweetest little guy, which is amazing considering the treatment he has received. He is a true victim of abuse due to neglect but his loving, good natured attitude shows he is not holding a grudge. He is soooo ready to be your best friend. Joe is guesstimated to be around a year old and weighs about 25 pounds. His coat was so matted and tangled up with cockle burs that he had to be completely shaved. Once shaved, you could see the scabs where Joe Cocker had scratched at his itchy flea bites and dry, flaky skin. Extreme neglect and poor nutrition had made his life miserable but good care, good nutrition and a few soothing, moisturizing baths are all ready giving him needed relief from his uncomfortable skin irritations. Joe has been neutered, is up to date on vaccinations but unfortunately tested positive for heartworms. We are handling the heartworm problem by simply keeping Joe Cocker on an Ivermectim based heartworm prevention like Heartgard or Iverhart until he tests negative which should occur in 1-2 years. Once he tests negative for heartworms he can be switched to any heartworm prevention desired. Joe walks well on a leash, does well on car rides, and gets along well with other dogs. His foster mom says he still has a lot of puppy in him and that he is becoming more and more playful and full of life as he overcomes the affects of the abuse he suffered. If you would like to invite Joe Cocker into your home where he can live happily ever after
please complete the first step in the adoption process by filling out our online adoption application. Please visit www.arfarkansas.com to find the link to our on line adoption application on the right hand side of our home page. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember our organization is staffed completely by volunteers.
