My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What an incredibly intelligent and very sweet guy this Australian Cattle Dog is! Harry was rescued by Farfel's at a perfect time in his life..just about 7-7.5 years old. That is old enough to have left puppyish behavior behind while gathering wisdom. Yet it's young enough to have many, many active years left (Cattle Dogs can live to a very ripe old age!)

It's not uncommon for Houston dogs to end up in a high-kill shelter due to overpopulation. It's truly a statement on opportunistic breeding (Cattle Dogs are favorite breeds) and simply being irresponsible regarding spaying/neutering. The great temperaments always shine, however, and Harry was chosen to be rescued. He was brought to a foster home to be reminded of his house skills while waiting for his transport to a new life in Denver.

The shelter had the following to say about Harry:
Harry is a very sweet 7 (or so) year old Australian Cattle Dog. He is a very handsome boy who loves to go for walks on leash. He truly enjoys human attention and affection and returns it with all his heart! Harry passed all handling tests like a champ! The evaluator was able to handle his paws, teeth, ears, tail and collar with no issues whatsoever. Harry is overjoyed to play fetch and is generally a very happy boy. We feel that Harry would be happiest in either an adult home or one with older kids (12+ would be fine). Harry doesn't do well with getting his tail pulled or being sat on or picked up awkwardly. He has not yet been tested with cats. Harry has done very well in our pack walk program, but does not appreciate young, hyper dogs jumping on top of him. He would do best in a calm and very loving household. He does love to go on walks and hikes.

Harry's Canon City foster mom had the following to report on this adorable guy:

--"Yes I have the pleasure of fostering the absolutely beautiful Harry. This is one sweet dog! I've never seen a Cattle Dog with Harry's incredible coloring. He's like a copper penny with markings that are so unique! Harry is just a touch shy right now.. but once he feels a sense of permanency in his forever home, he'll just be a loving and extremely kind dog. He's getting more courageous and trusting each day he spends with my family. Harry loves to play, gets along with other humans and dogs without an aggressive bone in his very cute body.
He loves treats which is great because there's no bigger gift when teaching a dog new skills.
Harry knows Sit, Lie Down, Come, Stay and Roll Over (although we haven't actually seen him roll over..we've been told he's very good at it. He is very eager to please. No matter what I say, he listens and tries very hard to do what he thinks I want him to...he's awesome!
Thank you for seeing the incredible companion and sweetie-pie that is Harry! There's no question - he is a gift to any family. He's truly special!!

Harry has a beautiful coat that is as soft as cotton (we've never felt a softer one!). He will require periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep his amazing coat healthy.

Harry is being fostered in Boulder. Meet and Greets are being set up and applications and inquiries are welcome. If interested in this very beautiful and sweet companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
