My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Champ is a super cute and friendly one year old Hound mix. He was adopted from Friendship as an 8 week old puppy and recently returned. He's now a year old. The family did not have a fenced in yard but had an electric fence. Champ has a high prey drive for little critters. When he would spot one, he would run through the electric fence. He really needs a secure fenced in yard due to his prey drive and energy level. Champ likes kids but they should be older because he is protective of his toys. He is dog friendly but does not like cats. Champ is a very affectionate dog and loves to snuggle in the evening and will give kisses forever. This sweetheart is house trained and will signal when to go out. Champ will be a champion canine once he returns from his training.

On December 03, 2015, Champ was selected to be one of Friendship's Prison Dogs. He is currently undergoing training at the Grafton Correctional Institution. Prison Dogs are trained in obedience, basic commands, manners and proper leash walking. He will spend approximately 12 weeks at the prison which puts his return date probably sometime in February. Prison Dogs cannot be visited during their training. All dogs return on an individual basis.

If you are interested in adopting this prison dog, adoption applications are now being accepted. You can find an app at friendshipapl.org under ADOPT-FIND A FRIEND. Hand deliver the adoption application to Friendship or call if you live a distance away to see if you can fax one in. Please DO NOT email the app.

If you have any questions, please contact the shelter at 440-322-4321. Or email at adoptions@friendshipapl.org.

All dogs receive one or more vaccinations, a basic veterinary examination, are wormed, heartworm tested and spayed or neutered. Dogs 3 months and older are micro-chipped.
