My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

HOAGAN: 1 Year Old Male Neutered Black Lab / Mix 85 Pounds

Hoagan and his brother were lost wandering the streets of the Ukiah area and a Good Samaritan picked them up and took them into her home. She already had several dogs and knew she could not keep them but brought them in, fed them, bathed them and gave them a safe place to stay until she could get them to the shelter. She took them to the Ukiah shelter and they called us as they knew since Hoagan was such a great dog we would find a wonderful home for him. (They wanted us to take his brother but he tested positive for heartworm. The shelter is treating him and once recovered they will see if we can take him.)

We have Hoagan at our boarding facility and they love him. He is a very easy dog and does not seem to need much. Hoagan is a GREAT dog, it seems no matter what seems to happen to him; he always has a smile on his face. He is very low key for a young boy. When he was in the home of the person who found him, he and his brother must have been inside dogs as they had excellent house manners. Hoagan loves everything – dogs and people and has no issues with either. We are not sure about cats with Hoagan. Loves to go for car rides, he is not a jumper and would do ok with small kids as long as the family has had large dogs in the past. He does need better leash manners, loves to play with his toys and is fine when he is left alone at the kennel. (He is not a barker.)

We want a home for Hoagan that can take him for 2 walks a day and will continue his training.

Hoagan is a very healthy dog – has his shots, is heartworm negative and we are working on the neuter. (He should be neutered by 10/30/2015.)

He is located in Petaluma.

(Please keep in mind we are all volunteers, most of us work full time and we all have personal lives. I do call everyone back within 2-3 days so please be patient and I will be back in touch with you. When the dogs are in foster homes then it may take longer as we need to touch base with the fosters for updates on the dogs. We work very hard to make the right matches for the dogs and for the new owners. We get 3-5 dogs per week and we do not have a facility that we keep the dogs housed in. They are scattered all over the Bay Area.)
