Hi everyone, I was given the name Zorro because of my unique mask. I was one of 6 dogs Moonsong rescued from a hoarding situation in Southern Colorado. Life in my foster home is a lot different than I'm used to, but I like it! Before, we didn't have much contact with humans, so I'm still a little shy around people, especially when they want to touch me. But I'm getting better, especially if you have yummy treats to feed me!
I have learned so much since being in foster care. I mastered how to walk on a leash and finally feel comfortable getting my no-pull harness put on. I LOVE daily walks with my female Mal friend here. I don't pull much on leash, even though I'm sure I would be an awesome bike or ski-joring partner, since I'm fast and love to run (check out my video!). I have even been out running with a volunteer while my Mal friend trots next to the bike. Maybe pretty soon I'll be able to trot next to the bike. My foster mom keeps telling me I would be a fantastic sled dog for a recreational musher. I'm not sure what she's talking about, but if it means running, then I'm game!
I like hanging out inside and know that the outside is my bathroom area. However, I am still young and will get into your shoes or anything else that looks like a good chew! I have learned the command "sit" and am working on "down". I don't mind being in a crate as long as I have something like a bully stick to chew on. Looking for a fast, friendly boy? I would love to find my happily ever after home!
Notes from Zorro's foster mom: Zorro is mostly husky and has the need to be active every day. He will cry and whine if he is confined to a kennel run for very long. He hasn't tried challenging my yard with 6 foot fencing, but he will try to dig out of any kennel or pen area. We are still working on Zorro's housetraining but he is a quick learner and knows what "no" and "leave it" mean. He seems pretty dog friendly and non-reactive on neighborhood walks. He is still uncomfortable riding in a car, but we are working on that, too. He will ride fine in a crate. We think Zorro is probably around 2 years old and he weighs around 70 lbs. He has a typical sleek husky build. Zorro needs a home with at least one other playful dog, as he loves to play and can learn a lot from a more confident, socialized dog. He also needs someone willing to keep working on his shyness and training on a daily basis. Zorro would probably do well in doggie day care.
