Meet Goldie, a 7-8 year old cockapoo. Surrendered to the pound today because she was "getting old"...this poor girl was covered in thick mats and hadn't been groomed in at least a year. Her eyes had mats and thick green discharge caked over them so that we initially thought she was only temporary blind because of the hair over her eyes. Unfortunately once the debris was cut away, the true extent of her suffering was revealed. She is completely blind, and both eyes were bulging due to glaucoma, red, irritated and infected. As being covered in filthy mats wasn't bad enough, she had been living in constant pain for a long time from the pressure in her eyes. She is having surgery tomorrow to have both eyes removed and should feel such a relief with them gone! She also has ear infections which are being treated finally. She seemed to realize despite her discomfort that we were trying to help her and seemed to enjoy having the layers of hair peeled off. She's a mellow sweet girl who has been blind for a long time and gets around very well, and is looking for a calmer adult home where she will never end up in such sad shape again. Please email njwoof@cs.com if you are interested. Her medical care, like so many of our recent cases, will be expensive and we need your help so we can continue to help relieve the suffering of others like her... please consider donating on our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com or through our paypal link https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=P8SZEYHFMUCRE
Thank you!!!
