Augustine's Story...
Augustine is a marbled tabby boy with a handsome white spot on his nose. Augustine likes to get attention and when he’s comfortable, he’ll start head butting your hands with his face over and over. Then he walks back and forth in front of you, rubbing his sides and back against your hands and legs to get even more petting. Once he’s sure your attention is on him he rolls over for belly rubs! He flops back and forth on the ground, showing off his spotted belly and kneading the air with his little white paws that look like mittens. He really wants you to know that he likes attention.

Augustine loves other cats, he gets along well with them and wants to make friends with everyone. He has a cute, quiet little meow when he’s happy. He also enjoys his catnip, he’ll eat some, then roll around in it. Augustine was rescued from West Virginia as a stray near a laundromat. The 4Paws volunteers realized what a friendly boy he was, and knew they had to help him find a forever home of his own. Come and meet Augustine!

Augustine was born in October 2013. He has been neutered, tested negative for FIV and feline leukemia, is up to date on all his shots, and has been micro-chipped.

  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Merrifield breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Merrifield paves the way for another one to be saved.
