SADLY, IT'S OFFICIAL. Stitch has been with us for one whole year now. What's holding him back, you ask? Like most of our long-term residents, his breed is part of it. Despite our attempts to educate folks, we find that many people are still prejudice against 'pit bull' type dogs. The other part of it is that Stitch doesn't 'show' well in his kennel. After being locked up over 23 hours a day for 365 days straight, he has a lot of pent up energy. But once you get Stitch out of the stressful shelter environment and give him a chance to burn some of it off, you can see who he really is - an incredibly smart and big-hearted people pleaser who loves life and wants to live each day to its fullest! Stitch would do best in a home with a big yard and active family members. Big kids would be great for him and other big dogs may be an option too. STITCH'S ADOPTION FEE HAS BEEN SPONSORED. If you are interested in meeting this playful sweetheart, please stop by the Corning Animal Shelter at 4312 Rawson Rd, Sat-Sun 10am-3pm; call us at (530) 824-1985; or apply online at http://www.secondchancepetrescue.org/adoption-application.html
Our regular adoption fee is $75 and it includes the dog's spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, flea treatment, dewormer, and microchip.
Prospective adopters must agree to a home visit, have secure fencing and allow their dog to sleep inside at night. Those coming from out of town may submit a vet reference in place of a home visit. All renters need landlord approval.
If you already have a dog or two, they must be spayed/neutered and brought to the shelter for a meet and greet. Homes that already have than two dogs, or any unaltered dogs, will not be considered.
Exceptions to these rules may be made in special circumstances.
