Chippy's Story...
CHIPPY, 5 yr old 10 lb MALTESE mix, is a sweetheart!

Quakertown, PA - CHIPPY was rescued from a city shelter in Philly, where he needed eye surgery. AmsterDog took him under their wing and boy, are we glad we did! Chippy is recuperating well in his doting foster home and doesn’t seem to mind being a one-eyed dog. We think he still is one adorable pup! Originally we thought that Chip was attacked by another dog, but his vet says that his wounds were consistent with human abuse. Despite all that he had been through, Chip remains a very loving, sweet boy. He is great with other dogs and with cats too. Chippy is up to date on shots, neutered, healthy and is looking for a calm happy place to call home. For more info, please contact AmsterDog at amsterdog@gmail.com and thanks for caring about a dog in need!
From Chippy’s loving foster mom: “Chippy (aka Chipo) has picked out some toys to carry around. Today is the first day he sat only for a short time, usually does this through out the day for long periods of time, watching the front door whining waiting for the person he loved to show up. Thinking vacation must be over. I have fostered for six weeks. Breaks your heart. He is moving on and walking much better. Needs a loving home forever.”

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Chippy, a New York Maltese dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maltese for sale in New York, or seeking a Maltese dog from a breeder in New York.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in New York already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a New York breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maltese breeders who help with Maltese rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in New York paves the way for another one to be saved.
