My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*Wiley is currently living in a foster home in Houston, Texas and is eagerly awaiting his new family either locally or out-of-state.*

Wiley is the sweetest 1 year old, black Labrador mix, weighing in at about 50 pounds and expected to add about 5 pounds as he matures. His arrival is a bit of a mystery as he was just on the porch of his foster family one morning when they woke up. He was just the sweetest guy ever and actually seemed to be well cared for, so they tried locating his owners without any success and then decided to foster him and get him ready for a very lucky family. They would love to keep his as part of their own pack, but they travel far too much and this pup needs a family that is present in his life. He’s a complete love and is a dream companion.

He is an affectionate and easy to love type of boy. He is always happy, thrives on lots of attention from his human friends and wants to be their adorable shadow. His energy level is great for an active family that loves to be outside playing. He would also be a great running partner with some training. He currently lives on 16 acres and loves to take advantage of the space to play, explore and exercise.

Wiley’s eyes and smile are unforgettable! He’s also quite comical as he chases the squirrels he shares his yard with because he tries really hard, but will never catch those little guys. He loves to chase his tennis ball, but hasn’t mastered the retrieving part of his breed. His foster family is helping him practice that daily, so there is hope! He’s an excellent passenger in the car, so he’s all set to take trips or even just run errands with you around town.

He is neutered, microchipped, current on all vaccinations, and takes his heartworm and flea preventions monthly. He has been checked over by the vet and found to be in excellent condition. He is house trained and has never tried to get on the furniture. He is learning his leash skills and is doing rather well. He already knows basic commands such as sit, stay and no as well as he comes to his name being called. He would much rather be with his people than alone, but he can manage if you need to be away for a while. Since his rescue about 2 months ago, he has not been with any other pets or kids, but we feel he has a very affectionate and fun personality and will most likely be an excellent playmate for both. He’s not been tested with cats, so we prefer that he not be adopted into a family with a cat.

Wiley enjoys rawhides, his favorite blanket, Kong chew toys and wood sticks that he finds around the yard. He love the ball and will hopefully start bringing it back eventually. Wiley is a huge fan of a good, long belly rub. He’s a good boy and he deserves them too. He would be an excellent addition for just about any family dynamic as long as he is loved dearly and not left alone for very extended periods of time. He will be an awesome adventurer, playmate, companion and lifelong friend.

Wiley is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped and completely healthy. He’s current on his heartworm and flea preventions and is simply waiting for that one perfect family to see his handsome face and know that he is THE ONE. He is living in Houston with his foster family, but he is available for local or out of state adoption. His local adoption fee is $300 and out of state $500, to help cover the cost of his flight and travel crate.
