My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PIRATE: Pirate is a beautiful, black and white, 6 month old, male, purebred
Border Collie by a popular sire in Europe who has produced some of the
world's top agility dogs. He was to be a competitive agility dog until a CT
scan revealed OCD (Osteochondritis Dissecans) in his shoulders and "minor
incongruency" in his elbows. He has recently had arthroscopic surgery to
correct the shoulders and stem cell therapy in his shoulders and elbows for
the best possible outcome. OCD surgery has a very high rate of complete
recovery particularly when it is caught and corrected early (which it was).
His elbows are not symptomatic so surgery was not recommended. However,
several vets and rehab specialists have suggested that Pirate would be
better off if his joints were not subjected to the pounding of competitive
agility. He is now looking for a home where he can be a superstar of
another kind. Pirate is extremely friendly and loves all people and other
dogs. He currently lives with a cat and likes to play with her, too. He
has had a good start in a loving home, has been well socialized and received
early obedience and agility training. He loves to swim, play tug and chase
anything thrown. Pirate is smart and athletic and would do best in a home
where he would be worked in obedience, rally, scent detection or given a
purpose of some kind. He's an active, happy puppy who loves to play hard
then cuddle on the couch. He will need an indoor/outdoor home where he can
be an integral part of the family. He need a daily joint supplement to help
keep his joints healthy. Medical records, scan results, etc. available.
Neutered, chip and current on shots. Pirate is available in the So. CA area.
There is a rehoming fee for Pirate. It would be helpful to submit an
adoption application through BCIN, and it will be forwarded to me. For more
