My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Maggie is a very pretty, spayed female Pyrenees mix located in the Charleston IL area and in need of a new home. She is 3 years old and weighs about 70 pounds. Maggie's family rescued her as a puppy from a neglectful situation. She is housebroken and well behaved in the house, good with other animals including dogs, cats, chickens and turkeys, is good with older children and is social and friendly with visitors. All in all, Maggie is a very good girl, but is uncomfortable with very small children/toddlers including the family's 18 month old child and that is their concern. Maggie has never been or acted aggressively but will take a posture of head down, tail tucked, showing obvious discomfort with very young children. The movement and sounds of very small children can be disturbing for many dogs and that seems to be the case here. Although it was a hard decision Maggie's family does not want to take any chances and feel it best that Maggie find a new home. Maggie also has some mild seasonal allergies that respond well to over the counter allergy medication.
GPRCI will refer approved applicants who seem a good match directly to Maggie's family. Adoption information and an adoption application can be found at gprci.com There is no required adoption donation for adoption of a courtesy post dog not in the custody of GPRCI like Maggie, but there may be vet care that an adopter will need to updated/completed at the adopter's expense.
