My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet friendly "Luther" was recently rescued off the streets. He was pretty shy when we first noticed him at one of our feral feeding stations. But within a few weeks, he allowed me to pet him and then pick him and hug him. Despite being such a big boy, when it was time, he easily let me put him into a carrier and then drive him home. No fuss, no muss.

After 3 months of learning to be loved and cared for again, he has made remarkable progress. He is becoming friendly with strangers and with me (the main caretaker) he is a real love. He follows me around the cat area and runs to greet me every time I go outside. I can pick him up, hug him, kiss him, etc and he accepts it all!
Our vet gives him a clean bill of health and estimates he is approx. 7 years old. He did test positive for FIV (feline immuno deficiency virus) which really means nothing. Please see this link to an article about FIV+ cats: http://www.catchat.org/fiv.html
I did not list him as "special needs" because he has no special needs . . no treatments, no medications, nothing. His teeth and gums look great which is a sign of good health. We would just want him to be on really good high protein food, want him to be kept indoors and make sure he gets medical care as needed. At our cat sanctuary, we have had over 60 FIV+ throughout the years and we can honestly say that these cats are often healthier than our non-FIV cats.

We don't know much about Luther's past or how he would do with dogs. He is so gentle and mellow we think he would be fine with older children. He seems to be a dominant male and would not do well in a home with another male cat; quiet female cats might be okay.

If you want a friendly and easy going cat to share your life, please give Luther a chance. . . .every day he is re-learning what it is to be loved by humans again. We would really like to continue this trend in a new furr-ever home! Oh and by the way, did I mention that he has one green eye and one blue eye!
