Joey's Story...
Are you ready for your new BFF? Meet Joey, our newest arrival at the Coronado Animal Care Facility, who came in as a stray. Joey radiates cuteness from the moment you meet him. His name truly fits him, as he resembles a little kangaroo joey. Joey is a male Chihuahua/Italian Greyhound mix who is 2 years old and weighs 12 pounds.

This little guy is friendly with other dogs and does not seem to bark. Joey also has an amazing connection with his human pals, soon becoming part of their heart and soul. As Joey wants to be your perfect playmate, he is always up for a new activity. Without missing a beat, he can throw a toy into the air with total abandon, break for belly rubs and then take a walk with you. If you are ready for a companion who will love you forever, it is time for you to come and meet Joey!

The Coronado Animal Care Facility is open between 9:00am and 4:00pm (except holidays). It is located at 1395 First Street, at the south end of the Ferry Landing complex.

If you are interested in an adoption, you must first complete a dog adoption application and meet with a PAWS of Coronado dog adoption counselor. You may fill out the online dog adoption application at pawsofcoronado.org or contact dogadoptions@pawsofcoronado.org.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Joey, a Coronado Chihuahua/Italian Greyhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua/Italian Greyhound for sale in Coronado, or seeking a Chihuahua/Italian Greyhound dog from a breeder in Coronado.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Coronado already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Coronado breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua/Italian Greyhound breeders who help with Chihuahua/Italian Greyhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Coronado paves the way for another one to be saved.
