My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

LEO is a 4 year old neutered black male Lab who weighs 64 pounds. He is a sweet boy who needs a new start on life. He was left to fend for himself when his owners were evicted from their home. He roamed the neighborhood and was fed by a neighbor until workers came to start working on the home and then the shelter was called. His evaluator said he is a very even keel dog that is very interested in his environment. He is friendly and waggy and enjoys being loved on. He does not really seem to know what toys are yet. He is not food or treat motivated and is a "grazer" when he eats. However, he is eager to please and seems to know some basic commands like sit. Leo is good on leash and a good rider. He is keeping his run super clean at the vet and the shelter said he would wait to go outside also. He is good with other dogs. Leo is approved for kids ages 7+.

Update (12/01): Leo has been an awesome foster- comfortable with every child, adult, animal he meets. Settled right in! He is very young and energetic but at the same time housetrained and has great manners. Also, he is quiet- doesn’t bark much at all especially when outside (even though our dog Jane is very verbal and will bark for hours….).

Update (11/27): Leo continues to be a wonderful foster. He is housebroken and does not need to be crated. He loves other dogs and kids the most!! He was a perfect Thanksgiving guest and did wonderfully with lots of people in and out all day. He is not a big barker and is just a very well rounded, super sweet guy! Leo is now approved for kids 7+..

Update (11/25): Leo is a joy to have around and a wonderful house guest! He has great manners. He loves to play and run but can settle down easily also. Great on leash - just a wonderful boy!

Update (11/19): Leo is finally in a foster home!! From foster: He did very well. He acclimates so quickly! He does have a good amount of energy but also slept really well last night on dog bed by my side. He got up once and kind of whimpered. I let him out to pee, he did so and came right back in and back to sleep. I thought that was really good for 1st night. He is definitely housebroken. We had to take my daughter to gymnastics at 6:45p - we tried to take Leo but he was not thrilled about getting in car. Probably thought he was going back to kennel so we left him confined to sunporch. He did great! He is a happy sweet boy- would be a great addition to any family! He reminds me of an 8 year old boy- wants to play, is hungry but wears himself out so he sleeps well.
