Meet Harold!  Harold is about 5 years old and a 30 lb. love of a guy who came to us underweight and in need of a little TLC from rural Kentucky.  Harold had a rough go of it up there, but he is so glad to be in a caring and loving foster home that you would never know about his previous life.  We think Harold is a Feist mix.  Feists are quite common in the rural South, known for their ability to hunt squirrels, for their intelligence and for their loving personalities; kind of like a long-legged Jack Russell without so much energy.  Harold loves to play after breakfast and will go to the toy box, bring you a toy or a ball and try to get you to play with him.  But if you aren’t available, he will toss the toy in the air and play by himself.  Harold also loves to take walks, although he does bark at other dogs and cars he encounters.  (His foster mom just bought him a head collar and we will see if this keeps him a little more focused on his walks.)  He is very smart and knows a few commands and could probably learn quite a few more, if you want to teach him.  Harold loves nothing better than to curl up for a nap in his bed or with you on the couch.  He is quite cuddly and always has his tongue sticking out a little bit when he is tired or sleeping.  So adorable!  Harold seems to like everyone he meets, including children.  Sometimes he can be a little territorial with dogs that are bigger than he is, like when a new foster dog comes into the home.  He gets along well with his furry foster brothers and sisters, although he probably wouldn’t mind being an only dog.  We think he would do well as a companion for an active single person, or with a family, although he doesn’t require much more than a short walk every day.    PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or

About Critter Companion Rescue- PA

About Our Rescue Group...

We are a group of dedicated rescue people who want to save as many dogs and cats from the local shelters before they are euthanized. On the average....there are only 1 out of 10 animals that get adopted from a shelter. We are dedicated to helping increase pet adoptions by offering a shelter animal a foster home to go to while awaiting an adoptive family to find them on our Petfinder website. Won't you please adopt a shelter animal? Or won't you please help us foster a shelter animal while we are looking for their perfect home? What a gift you can give a dog or cat by giving them a place to feel safe and secure....a forever home or a foster home. Won't you help us at Critter Companion Rescue give them a chance to have a life?

Our Adoption Process...

Most all our dogs are fostered in Tennessee and transport up to the Northeast or New England. Our fees start at $500 and can be higher depending on the dog and circumstances for their vetting. All fees cover the health certificate, transportation up to designated places for families to pick up their pre-adopted dog, spay/neuter, rabies, all shots, fecal and dewormings, microchip, complete vet check up and 4 way heartworm test if dogs are older than 8 months.
