My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Zak is a five and a half year old tri-headed, white-factored male collie. He was surrendered to a shelter in western Kentucky in May of this year and at the time he tested heart worm positive. He has now finished his heartworm treatment but will need to have a follow up blood test in March of 2016. Zak has the energy of a young dog but the wisdom of a bit of age so he isn’t so rambunctious. His markings are unusual and very striking. A friend compared his markings to those of a Holstein dairy cow.

Zak is well mannered, house trained, and is good with other dogs and children. He is not a dominant personality and will back off when the 15-lb. alpha dog at his foster mom’s house growls at him to get out of the way. He loves his foster mom’s 18 month old granddaughter. He is very gentle with her and follows her constantly. Zak loves to run in the fenced back yard and thinks it’s his job to rid the world of squirrels. So a fenced yard or a human that is willing to take him for frequent walks is a must. Zak walks well on a leash and enjoys car rides. He understands the commands sit and down and is working on mastering stay. Zak is very loving and wants nothing more than to curl up next to his human on the couch for a snuggle. He’ll put his head on your arm, leg, shoulder, or whatever good spot is available. This special boy deserves a loving home to call his own.

This handsome guy is being fostered in Kentucky
