My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Odie is a 5 to 6 year old neutered male smooth collie or collie mix. However, his mannerisms, intelligence, and gentle nature are all collie. Odie spent years in an outdoor chain-link kennel before reaching TSCR. We surmise that he had nothing to do but eat during that time. He was 103# when he arrived, but a diet and exercise program is helping him reach his slim potential. Odie currently weighs 80# and should probably lose another 5 to 10 pounds.

When Odie arrived, he was so happy to have an indoor kennel that he did not want to leave it. He has learned since then that there are people, other pets, and fun things to do outside of the kennel. He loves play time, toys, and having a blanket! He loves attention! He loves everybody! Did we mention squeaker toys? Over the moon for squeaker toys! Odie has been around cats, kittens, dogs, puppies, children, adults, and even a turtle. His sweet, gentle nature shines through every encounter, and he charms the boots off everyone he meets.

Odie will need to continue housebreaking. A belly band can help a lot with this process. He also needs to continue long walks and continue losing weight. He currently eats a prescription weight loss diet, but he could transition to an appropriate nonprescription diet if needed. The prescription diet allows him to eat a larger volume to feel full while reducing calories at the same time.

Other than needing weight loss and help with housebreaking, Odie has no vices and will be a wonderful addition to the lucky family that adopts him. He is up to date on vaccines, heartworm prevention, flea prevention, thyroid testing, and dental care.

This adorable guy is being fostered in Ohio
