Here's what the humans have to say about me:
My name is Dixie and my favorite T-shirt reads "My name is No, No, Bad Dog! What's yours?" I am a 2 year old black and tan Chihuahua/Dachshund mix. I have short little Dachshund legs and a long Dachshund body with cute little Chihuahua ears. I weigh only 12 lbs so I would be happy in an apartment or a house. I absolutely love to go walking on a leash!! I am pretty quiet most of the time unless there is a stranger knocking on our door. I used to have the most wonderful home with a gentle older man who spent every second with me. We went for walks every day and spent many happy hours snuggling on the sofa together and in bed at night under the covers. But then my Daddy found out that he was very very sick and he had to go to the hospital and was afraid he would not be able to come home again. So he gave me to Healing Hearts Animal Rescue so I could find a new, loving home. I have had some visitors so far but most of them don't really seem to understand me. I can be sassy and have quite an attitude when I am around people I don't know. Strangers scare me because I don't know if they will be nice to me or mean to me. I will normally growl at someone I don't know at first, because I'm trying to figure out what kind of person you are. I don't like other dogs or cats up in my personal space so I would prefer to the Princess of my new home and not have to share my person with any other animals. I have been spayed, microchipped, have all my shots, dewormings, am heartworm-negative and up to date on flea and heartworm prevention. My adoption fee is just $100 since I am a special needs girl. I need a very gentle, patient person who will give me some time to feel comfortable with you. I have a bed, bag of toys, bag of food, collar and two leashes from my Daddy that will come with me to my new home. I am a very good protector and I am a very loyal companion. Children scare me because they can be loud and move quickly. Will you be my special person who will help me feel safe and let me snuggle with you and keep you compamy? I am a very good housedog. I don't chew on anything or have accidents. You can even leave me loose in the house when you are not home and I will just take a nap until you come home again. I am writing this post hoping that someone out there cares enough to be my best friend forever. You can call, text or email my foster mom if you would like to come and meet me. I will be at the Rivergate PetSmart on Saturday, February 27th from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm for our Adoption Day if you would like to stop by and meet me. You can reach my foster mom at (615) 290-2454 or healingheartsrescue@hotmail.com
