Barney is an adorable little muppet! Barney loves other dogs and is quite the playmate! Barney loves people too...but it might take a few weeks for him to warm up to you. Barney is a loyal wonderful guy once you earn his trust. Once he decides to be your friend, he wiggles and wags and follows you around like a little shadow. Barney just needs a chance to see that it is safe to love you.
Barney may always have trust issues with new people so he is not the dog for a family who wants to take him visiting. With time he may blossom into that type of social butterfly but right now, you will need to be willing to go slow and give him space.
Expectations have been that his demeanor will change in a short meet and greet. He has had a ton of them, more than any other dog at ACT; the results are always the same: Barney stays behind. Do not come to meet him if you think you can change him in an hour. We believe it may take a week or more for him to really come around and become the lap dog he really is.
All animals adopted from ACT are spayed/neutered, given age-appropriate vaccinations, dewormed, and microchipped prior to adoption. Every pet adoption comes with a free health exam in the first two weeks, provided by Pet Medical Center, Fresno, http://petmedcenterfresno.com/

NOTE: Some shelters have physical locations you can visit; some of these shelters may only have pets for a limited time, so please do not wait for a reply—just go visit the shelter! Other organizations are rescue groups run by busy volunteers who may take a while to reply.
