THIS IS BERKELEY....who is a wonderful dog, a 15 lb, b/w, 6.5 yrs old, Lhasa Apso -- with a dash of Shih Tzu! Berkeley really is a sweetheart of a dog. He was abandoned on the streets in Lancaster 5 yrs ago, likely a result of the economic demise, with no ID or microchip. Lucky for Berkeley he was rescued and not eaten by a coyote or hit by a car. He was only 18 months old at the time and yet had the best temperament. We placed him in a wonderful home, where his parents worked from home, but their situation has changed and they are now gone all day. Berkeley is not happy, and so they are rehoming him. He is not good left alone in long stretches -- but an hour or two with other dog(s) and he's an angel. His first foster called him a dream dog!! He is a loving, laid back boy, who likes to play and is very social. We think that Berkeley was traumatized when he was initially abandoned and seems to have separation anxiety as a result. He is fine at his daycare when left 2-3 hours alone with the dogs. Berkeley would be best in a mature home where he has company all day (human and dog(s) -- he is just an absolute lover, plays with toys....but can't go to a home where he is left alone all day. He is a social guy, follows you around everywhere....wants to be part of the family...and so he should be! You'll need to reserve his place on the bed... because he'd love to share one with you! He seems to be potty trained at his present home, but we can't promise at yours! He's a very smart dog, so with patience, he'll definitely aim to please you. His next home will be his last home, so if you are looking for a fabulous dog to pamper and love, this is your boy! He will give back 500%.

UPDATE!!!! Lhasa Happy Homes will be now holding our adoption events most every Sunday at ROVER KENNELS on Main Street in Santa Monica (check calendar link below for special events and directions). Rover is located at 2116 Main Street, in Santa Monica, CA. Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household. Main Street is famous for its innovative shops and is close to the beach! Make a day of it!! Metered parking on the street and free parking on 4th and Bicknell Streets.
Here you will have an opportunity to interact with the dogs and see which might be a perfect fit with your household....and do some fantastic shopping at the same time! Please do call us if you are coming to see a particular dog to make sure he/she will be at adoptions (we do not bring sick dogs to our adoption events). Please bring a copy of your application and pictures of your home and yard if we have not done a home check! Most importantly, if you have a dog, make sure you bring him or her to do a compatibility match with the dog you are interested in adopting!
