My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

"We are boy dogs and boy dogs RULE!"

Schwartz and his brother Bosco are two parts of the same dog. They both fetch a thrown rope toy and return it to their foster (human) dad, each holding one end. They chew the same large nylabone, from opposite ends. When you say "boys, come!" they both come running.

They are so loving, affectionate, and full of sweetness. They love to cuddle, fall asleep on your lap, and give the sweetest, most docile love-looks straight into your eyes (what the AKC terms "a gentle gaze" or "soft gaze"). They are also still young and recently neutered, so they have a lot of vim and vigor and need a firm but loving hand to guide and continue to train them.

They are well house trained in a house with a pet door. They are crate trained for sleeping, but have only been crated for very brief periods otherwise (15 minutes or less at a time). We are using two crates, bungee-corded together, but they sleep in one end, in one bed, in one of the crates, instead of sleeping separately. They sleep quietly all night, from about 9 pm - 6 am, without waking or needing outside.

They are not good with bigger dogs, but wonderful with dogs their size and smaller. They are very curious about cats but cats don't seem to excite their prey drive, just their interest. They might be too rambunctious at present for a family with small kids (might knock them over while running around), but bigger kids and teens would be fine. They will calm down as they mature but right now are ready to rock and roll.

They are very handsome, eager to please, and have bonded completely and happily with their foster family. They will be a beloved addition to a home with moderately experienced dachshund lovers.
