My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

DOB June 5, 2015.

Hemingway is a sweet, elegant cat with big amber eyes and a thick, lustrous black coat. Once he warms up to you he becomes a very affectionate boy who will follow you around the house until you play with him or give him a nice pat.

He is very healthy, active and can be highly independent, so at times he just wants to be left alone in a quiet corner. At other times he loves to play, and especially loves to chase a laser light.

Hemingway is a highly sociable animal who very much enjoys the company of other cats. He loves to play, give chase, then tumble and wrestle with his playmates. Hemingway would very much like to find a forever home with another active playmate. Hemingway is easily bored and needs to be kept occupied. When he gets bored he will resort to mischief as cats often do, so having another cat around to play with him is highly recommended. He would be OK with older children, not small children, as he can infrequently nip to get some attention.

Hemingway is a polydactyl cat, meaning he has an extra toe on each foot. He was named after Ernest Hemingway, who was mildly obsessed with polydactyls - so much so that polydactyl cats are often referred to as Hemingway cats!

This boy was rescued from a very difficult situation so he never quite believes his luck when you put food in his bowl. He always seems to be wondering where his next meal is coming from. This means he is easy to handle, as he is highly motivated by treats. It also means his humans need to be especially careful not to over-feed him or leave food lying around unattended. It is very important to control his food intake or he will eat himself into obesity when he gets older.

He is very good company for a person who works from home, as he will occasionally drop by your desk for a cuddle but will otherwise leave you alone. Adopt this sweet boy today!
