My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We have a standard grey female chinchilla looking for her new home. Her name is Pitronila (we call her Nilla) and she is approx. 1-2 years old (born sometime 2013/2014). Nilla came to our rescue from another rescue in Chicagoland, when they decided to focus solely on cats and dogs.

Nilla has been here for awhile because she was originally in with a male chinchilla. Now that we have determined that she is not pregnant, she is ready to go to her new home.

Nilla enjoys shredding things. If you give her toys that are light wood, such as balsa, she will just have the time of her life chewing them to pieces. She enjoys toilet paper rolls as well, but goes to the toys first. She is a curious chinchilla that loves exploring her surroundings and munching on things…. But not fingers. She does not bite. She does well with being handled and petted.

This chinchilla is currently living alone, but she did have a cagemate when she came to the rescue. She might get along with another chinchilla, so if you are curious about whether she might get along with your, or one of our, chinchillas, let us know and we’ll see what we can do.

This chinchilla would make a good “first chinchilla” for someone who’s never had chinchillas before.

This chinchilla will come with some food to start you out (2 pounds of Mazuri pellets), a goodie bags of chews/treats, and a printed out version of our care packet. He will also come with a lifetime of help and support, should you ever need it. If more supplies are needed, we also sell a variety of chinchilla supplies, from cages to hidey houses to hammocks and everything in between.

Regardless of past chinchilla experience, all potential homes will be asked to read our chinchilla care packet, fill out our adoption application/chinchilla questionnaire, and provide proof of cage. If you are unwilling to do these things, please do not waste our time or yours. No chinchilla will go to a new home without an adoption application being filled out - no exceptions.

This chinchilla is located in Hammond, Indiana (zip code 46324). Sorry, but we do not ship.

Pitronila would normally be $75 to adopt, but due to our Fall Fiesta sale, her adoption fee is now discounted to $65. Must be picked up or have deposit put down by Nov. 30.

If you are interested in this chinchilla or have any questions, please let us know. We also do have other chinchillas and other small animals up for adoption as well. You can email us at amgajda@sbcglobal.net or call 219-789-0026 for more information or if you have any questions. If you call and there is no answer, please leave a message and we will get back to you.
