Charlie-3 is a 5 year old purebred Cocker Spaniel, who is eagerly awaiting his new forever home. He is full of puppy energy and eagerness to please, but also loves cuddling for hours on the couch next to his humans. This sweet boy has been through several training courses, and is a joy to work with. He knows his basic commands very well, walks great on a leash, and is easily redirected when distracted with a simple “leave it.” He is house-trained, and has been living in a home with a doggy door and large fenced yard. He has been crated in the past, but would prefer to just sleep on the couch all day instead.

Although he may initially come off as shy and apprehensive, Charlie quickly warms up to strangers and seeks endless pets and belly rubs. His previous owners are having to re-home him due to some resource guarding behavior. Despite extensive training, the behavior has persisted, and Charlie is not able to stay with this expanding family. He would do great with an experienced handler, in a home with no small children (teenagers 16+ are OK).

He currently lives with an older chihuahua, and they are best friends. They cuddle every night, and throughout the day. Charlie has also spent time with other dogs, either in a one-on-one basis or at a daycare, and has done very well. He does have a tendency to get defensive when intimidated, but is not otherwise aggressive. Charlie-3's adoption fee is $300.

Our Adoption Process...

Anyone wanting to adopt one of our cocker spaniels, must fill out an application (available on our website at www.acsrwa.org) Applications are reviewed by our staff; applicants that qualify are then asked for what we call a "home visit". One of our volunteers meets with each applicant and their household members at their home for a short interview. Each applicant gets an opportunity to meet with the dog to see if they like each other. Information about each applicant is then reviewed and an applicant is chosen to adopt a dog. A couple of weeks after a dog is adopted, a volunteer with check with the adopter to see how everything is going and if there are any problems, concerns, questions, etc. We are always available to help however we can, after the adoption is made.
