found a new home!
Plenty of my friends are looking
for one too. Find a pet to adopt.
I am already neutered, purebred, a special needs pet, up to date with shots, good with kids, and good with dogs.
Oliver is about 3-4 years old, neutered, up to date on all shots, good with other animals. He has some hind leg weakness. The vet thinks this is from a previous back/disc injury. His hind leg weakness does not keep him from walking around, or going to the bathroom. He is a little wobbly on the hind end -- no iron beagle competitions for him ;0) -- but he gets around just fine. He can chase a ball, but does get tired after a bit and then sits down. Overall he is a very happy boy.
A report from his foster home includes: "He is pretty active -- for a boy with sort of wobbly hind legs -- and has been getting around the house just fine. He walks well on a leash and loves the park. He gets along fine with other dogs and loves kids and sunning himself in the yard (so a fenced-in-yard is a must.)
With that said, I think a home where he has to go up multiple levels throughout the day is not going to work. While he can do stairs, he is somewhat unsteady going up and down them and I could see him taking a spill if left unsupervised. (We kind of "spot" him on the stairs and, when going out, make sure baby gates are up on all stairways.) Also, after doing the stairs a few times-a-day to go in and out to the bathroom, I have noticed that he gets extremely tired.
We hope to find him a home with someone who understands his limitations, but also the fact that he is a young boy who does not let his rear-leg unsteadiness get in the way of running and walking. He is a GREAT gentle dog and sweet soul. Very affectionate. Loves to be hugged and kissed.
