CoCo's Story...
ADOPTION PENDING: CoCo is a stunning 5 year old female Doxy / Chihuahua mix. She is only 14lbs and is saved and transported from a shelter in Florida in our 'Saving Death Row Dogs Program'. She is extremely gorgeous with her chocolate brown coloring and her her big melancholy eyes that will melt your heart and just look at that sweet angel face and awesome ears! Obviously she has the looks, but it is her personality that really makes her shine. She is as sweet as can be, very friendly, outgoing and will make a great lap dog. She adores people and is affectionate, loving and a big cuddler and also housebroken. She gets along with other dogs and enjoys doggie playtime and socializing. CoCo is a fun and loving little girl who will make a great new family easy going member. Adoption fee $70 includes spaying/neutering, vaccinations, microchip, de-fleaing & de-worming and heartworm test. We offer a 3 week money back (less $10 + $5 if paid on web) or even trade on another pet (dog for dog / cat for cat). This will give the pet and the adopting family time to get acquainted, for the pet to learn house rules, for scared dogs to feel safe and secure, etc. Will be arriving on the May 25, 2014 'Saving Death Row Dogs' Emergency Transport from Pinnellas County, Florida; Call for more info: 563-652-5360. Updates on our Facebook Page and don't forget to 'LIKE US'! Fans get notice of all our Death Row transports, local and non-local pet arrivals, adoptions, informative dog and cat articles, videos, pet updates and much, much more! http://www.facebook.com/JCHumaneSociety If you plan on coming out the day of the transport, please call first to make sure there were no delays and the transport arrived. They usually arrive late morning, but that is a long distance to travel and many things could happen such as detours, traffic, engine trouble, etc. This is one of our dogs from our 'Saving Death Row Dogs' program. This transport is from a Pinnellas County, Florida high kill shelter and many of these dogs were taken off the main adoption room floor and could not be viewed by potential adopters. Some literally had hours until death for no fault of their own...just because of overcrowding, no homes and to make room for new incoming dogs.. But because of this great program and hard work of the 'Dogs on the Move' organization staff, our staff and volunteers that we were able to save these wonderful dogs and cats ...we would like to thank our donors, its' because of their donations that we were able to take a lot on the 'Most Urgent Red Code List'. Do you have room in your heart and home to give one of these sweet boys or girls a second chance at life in a loving home and a 'Happily Ever After'that they deserve? YOUR NEW COMPANION WILL COME WITH THE FOLLOWING -- spaying or neutering (which must be done before you can take your new family member home), all up-to-date vaccinations including rabies and rabies vaccination tag. Please bring a leash with you to the shelter to escort your new family member home properly. *BREED DISCLOSURE: Due to the fact that most of our adoptable pets are strays, we can’t guarantee their breed. We list the pet’s breed as the one that best matches the physical appearance, and the pet may also be listed as a mix when it’s a purebred. COST OF ADOPTION -- Dogs $70 and Cats $55. Why Adoption is a Great Option

CoCo, a Maquoketa Dachshund/Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund/Chihuahua for sale in Maquoketa, or seeking a Dachshund/Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Maquoketa.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Maquoketa already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Maquoketa breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund/Chihuahua breeders who help with Dachshund/Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Maquoketa paves the way for another one to be saved.
