My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gage is one year old and he is a tiny fellow at ~10lbs. He is mostly dachshund mixed with tons of personality and a lot of sweetness! He has the characteristic long body and short legs. He also has the yummiest ears!

Gage is energetic and loves to play. He enjoys chewing on antlers and playing with his toys. He is housebroken and his foster mom leaves him out of his crate while she is away and he does just fine. He does sleep in his crate and he is fine with that. He gets along with his foster humans and loves other dogs.

His foster mom says he ignores cats and loves to ride in the car. He has two very favorite things- riding in the car and going for a walk. He knows basic commands and is very smart and obedient.

He has a sweet disposition and is very loving. He does not show any aggressive behavior at all. In fact, just the opposite! He is quite a snuggler and just wants to be next to his human.

He will be a wonderful addition for the right forever family. Our ideal would be a family that enjoys outdoor activities and has another dog for him to play with. Gage will definitely want to interact with all family members, including the 4 legged ones.

If you are interested in adopting Gage, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to dreamhappytails.org/adoptform.shtml. Gage's adoption fee is $350.00 All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Gage will go to his/her new home microchipped, altered, heartworm tested, and up to date on vaccinations. Most dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group, and we focus on the Atlanta, North Georgia and Savannah area. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
