Sweet Ruby's Story...
Ruby is a pure gem; a joy. At only4 years old, she finds herself homeless, through no fault of her own. She is a petite 4 year old bully mix girl, (possibly mixed with a Lab, Shepherd, or another mutt) who would be perfect in a home with a large backyard, or in an apartment building. This little darling weighs only around 40 to 45 lbs. Ruby is named for her chocolate brown coat that shimmers red in the sun. In three words Ruby is smart, confident, and well-adjusted. Her previous owner reports that she lived wonderfully with kids and cats in her previous home. Ruby is also friendly with other dogs but will stand her own if another dog tries to dominate her. She is fully house-broken and lives easily in her foster home, an apartment in NYC. She has also traveled easily on trains and in taxis within the city---nothing phases her! She is a medium to low energy dog who loves to go hiking but is equally content to curl up at your feet and relax. Ruby thrives on human company and her signature move is to burrow under the covers with you at night. Please consider meeting this beautiful little gem for yourself! She has been saved from imminent death, but she still is not home. Application, vet reference, and home check is required. Please contact Liana: liana.mehring@gmail.com

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sweet Ruby, a Smithtown Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Smithtown, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Smithtown.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Smithtown already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Smithtown breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Smithtown paves the way for another one to be saved.
