My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Juniper is a female Lab Mix born September 2012. Juni weighs 60lbs, has long lean legs and black and white speckles on her chest and feet.

Juniper LOVES toys of all kinds and loves to play fetch. She’s great with her toys and won’t destroy even the plush toys with the squeakers inside. It’s common for Juni to gather all her toys and take them to bed with her.

Juniper walks well on leash and loves to go for car rides. She is completely house and crate trained.

Juniper is a bit slow to warm up to new people unless they play with her and her toys. Then she makes instant friends.

Juniper has a strong prey drive and is not suitable to have around any small animals. She is very interested in chasing anything with wheels too- cars, bikes, lawn mowers. She is accustomed to being around cats separated by an enclosure and doesn’t care about them. But once anything runs, she is in for the chase and so can’t be trusted. Juniper’s careless owners allowed her to roam free for over a year which resulted in her being hit by cars at least twice. She has nerve damage to her rear end which is being well managed on medication. She takes Gabapentin for nerve pain which is very inexpensive. Her injuries are no longer debilitating and she can run quite well. She’s great on average walks but would not be suited to long, rigorous hikes. Fortunately, nerves heal with time and she could be free of any limitations in the future.

Juniper is a pleaser which makes her easy to train but she is also strong willed. She needs a patient owner who is experienced with dogs.

Juni’s ideal home would be one where she is the only pet, has attentive adult owners and a fenced yard. She is extremely loyal and would make a great dog for someone who can give her lots of love.
