Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, my name is Jimmy! I have hearts on my body (check out my photos!), so I am destined to be loved in a wonderful fur-ever home! I am a copper nose beagle and though someone thought I was four years old, my foster mom thinks I am closer to two!!! It’s not that I am not mature, but she thinks the way I prance when I play, when I am excited and when I go for walks is younger acting!!! I haven’t had one accident in my foster’s home, so I’m a pretty easy pup!!! I usually just follow the other dogs outdoors to go potty. If I am up roaming around, I usually get let out. I will potty on a leash, though not as often as my beagle “brother” that lives here!!! I am not much of a marker.
When I first got to my foster home, I went in a crate, and actually found security in it, but then I started whining and barking in it, probably imitating my foster brother, so foster mom trusts me out of it and I have been great. I do LOVE having a nice dog bed to curl up in. I don’t seem interested in jumping on furniture; so foster mom hasn’t encouraged me. I nap on and off all day, but love to run with my beagle foster brother and go for walks too!!
I love other dogs, perhaps a bit more than new people. I am a bit shy, but if you are slow and patient with me, once I get to know you, I have a happy tail wag and even kisses for you! I’ve met kids and seem to like them better than adults, who are so much bigger than me! I live with three other dogs right now and we get along great. In fact, I think they give me a little more confidence with new people. I’m always eager to meet new dog friends, as long as they aren’t really pushy or aggressive. If they are, I back off and feel a bit overwhelmed. I am not a big barker unless I hear something that scares me or see someone I don’t know (but only when foster mom is not around….I feel safe with her! She thinks I have a beautiful bark, but is glad I don’t use it a lot!)
I am not food aggressive, but do love my meals and my treats! I learned to walk on a leash with my foster mom and my canine brothers and sister!! Foster mom says I am a little “squirrely” as I don’t walk in a straight line, but like to sniff and see everything on the right and left constantly, but I am getting better. I sometimes pull when I get really excited, but I am only 21 pounds, so a tug on the leash and a voice telling me to “settle” usually calms me down!
I love toys and will sometimes play fetch. If I am afraid someone is going to take my toy, I will find a hiding place for it. Foster mom gets a kick out of the way I take toys to certain spots in the yard or in the house, and pile them up. Once in a while I walk away with something that isn’t mine, but I don’t usually chew it up, I just put it in my spot! It’s still a good idea not to leave anything too important out, in case you don’t catch me walking off with it. Foster mom thinks I am pretty smart as I do listen and follow the commands, “settle”, “off” and “leave it” pretty well. I sometimes “sit” for treats, but I am usually too excited!! I seem to know my name and come when called too!!
Overall, I am a pretty happy go lucky, loving boy, who wants to find a fur-ever home with someone I can learn to trust and will love me as much as I will learn to love them!
