Wendy's Info...

I am already spayed, housetrained, a special needs pet, up to date with shots, not good with kids, and not good with cats.

Wendy's Story...
This pretty little girl is Wendy, surrendered to us when her person had to go into a nursing home. She is a small, dainty Boston, 2 years old and weighing approximately 15 lbs. Wendy has excellent manners! Crate trained, house trained, and she walks well on a leash. She has a great disposition, and gets along with the other dogs in her foster home. Her favorite things to do are cuddling with her foster family, and playing with her fellow foster dogs. Cats are for chasing, in Wendy’s mind, so we are seeking a cat-free home for her. In addition, lots of heavy play alarms Wendy, and she will demonstrate her displeasure. She’d be happiest in a quiet, moderate activity home with older children and adults.

Little Miss Wendy is spayed, up to date with vaccinations, is testing Heartworm negative and is on monthly heartworm preventive.

Wendy is diagnosed with a luxating patella on her left knee. When she jumps off of furniture or plays too hard, she will limp on that leg for a day or so. Therefore, we are tempering her activity. The veterinarians have recommended that Wendy have orthopedic surgery in the near future to fix the knee to a) avoid further permanent injury/lameness and b) slow/avoid the development of arthritis in the knee. At her young age it would be to her advantage to get the surgery within the year. Her recovery will be easier and her quality of life will be greatly improved.

ABTR has been unable to provide this surgery for Wendy due to our limited funds being directed to other rescue dogs with more life-threatening or debilitating conditions. It is our desire that Wendy’s adoptive family have the ability and desire provide this surgery for her, using a reputable specialist. We are happy to discuss details of luxating patellas, the surgery, and the recovery. Email us, please.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Wendy, a Courtland Boston Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Boston Terrier for sale in Courtland, or seeking a Boston Terrier dog from a breeder in Courtland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Courtland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Courtland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Boston Terrier breeders who help with Boston Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Courtland paves the way for another one to be saved.
