My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet LITTLE GINNY

Absolutely a heart breaking rescue story: This little, smooth red, baby girl (21 months old) was just 8.5 lb. and was only feed 2 to 3 times a week when Oregon Dachshund Rescue, Inc. came into her life. She seemed just skin and bones. Little Ginny is now on a special diet to help her gain 2-3 lbs and was just spayed and fully vetted today with the worst case of ear mites ODR’s founder, Jenell had ever seen. Little Ginny loves being pampered and snuggling inside 6-8 big fluffy fleece blankets inside her big wire crate where she can build a little fort and completely cover herself. The vet says she is now a happy, healthy, 21 months old. Little Ginny is a bit timid so she needs a quiet home with a lot of TLC. She will do best in a family with a stay at home parent (retired/work from home) and older children who are sensitive to the special needs of Dachshunds. This is one very special, red smooth baby girl. If you’d like to love a sweet little doxie for the rest of her life, please visit www.ODR-Inc.org and complete the adoption questionnaire.

As we mentioned above, LITTLE GINNY will do best in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and only older children (over age 12), who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds.

Like all Dachshunds, LITTLE GINNY is high energy and enjoys playing and warming her little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around her neighborhood, LITTLE GINNY needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $495, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give LITTLE GINNY a happy, carefree life that she deserves? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in touch with you within 48 -72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
