Hey everyone! My name is Shiner. I'm somewhere around 4 -4 1/2 years old, or so they tell me. They tell me a lot of things! That I'll soon be out of the kennel, that my forever family is waiting for me, that I'm a good boy. I am a good boy, you know! Just not with any other animals. Maybe it's because my previous owner basically left me to fend for myself and I wasn't socialized with animals, but what I have going for me is I'm GREAT with people (in small doses - no crowds of Zumba dancers like I've encountered at the Parkway please!).

While I'm grateful for the roof over my head, the food I get in the kennel, and the gals fighting over who gets to take me out for breaks, I would just LOVE to go home with a breed-experienced foster or forever family where I promise to be loyal, goofy, loving, and an expert in laying around on the couch! I like kids, but I forget how big I am, so older/considerate kids only please - less bumps and bruises for the poor littles that way. As I said, I also don't want to share you, so no other pets of any kind please! So, what do ya say? Got a spot for me?

7/20 UPDATE: Things Shiner's Girls have to say about him: "He is extremely well behaved. He not only loves to go on walks and devour treats, he loves to splash around in the water! Needless to say, if I didn't have other animals, Shiner would not be looking for his forever home."

"This dog quickly found a way to steal my heart. Shiner is loving and goofy. He makes you laugh and warms your soul. If I had room for Shiner there is no doubt that he would be mine. being a part of this dog's life makes me the lucky one. As much as I love him and all the other lovely ladies in his life that feel the same, he still deserves more. He deserves a forever home and every day I pray he finds that...even if it means that I have to let him go."

"Shiner has many, many girlfriends cause he's such a flirt. This boy loves everyone he comes in contact with - even great with children! He is stunningly handsome, affectionate, playful and snuggly. Whether you're looking for a snuggle partner, couch potato, hiking buddy or a walking partner, Shiner is the boy for you. If you're a tennis player you get a bonus! Shiner will retrieve the balls for you. They may be a bit slobbery but he will bring them back!"

" He is a great dog! He definitely loves his people! He likes people of ages, he's good with kids too! He loves to take walks, sniff the fresh air and get his exercise. He also enjoys chewing on toys (especially antlers). He is food/treat motivated and will take even the smallest of treats so gently from your hand. Shiner really deserves a loving home and he will make a great companion for someone. If we didn't have multiple dogs, we would adopt him. We've had some really heart touching moments. Sometimes he will just lay by me with his head on my leg and fall asleep. He's stolen my he needs to steal someone else's. He's blessed to have us lovely ladies taking time with him...but he deserves so much more. Please, share Shiner and help him find the home he so deserves!!!"

" Shiner is a gem of a dog. Obedient, loyal, smart, affectionate, and goofy. That's the short list...I could go on and on. He has wonderful house manners, is completely housebroken, and I even left him uncrated in the house while I ran errands and he didn't touch a thing. He is a cuddle bug who loves to snuggle."

9/8/16 Update: Shiner's dedicated volunteers continue to give him mental and physical breaks. The kennel staff tell us they have been putting the word out and all LOVE Shiner but have furbabies of their own. Do you? If not, this is the guy for you! He remains hopeful and so do we. Come on forever family!

We believe that every dog, regardless of health, deserves at least a fighting chance to live, to love and to be loved for the entirety of their life. At Mostly Muttz Rescue, we often choose to save dogs suffering from curable illnesses within the shelter system rather than rescuing dogs that will be easy to place.
