Artie's Info...

I am already neutered, up to date with shots, not good with kids, and good with dogs.

Artie's Story...
Artie's adoption fee is $350.

Artie is a Shih Tzu/Poodle mix, approx 5-6 years old. He is neutered, micro chipped, up to date with vaccines, and also has had his teeth cleaned. He was quite thin when he first came into our care, but has gained weight nicely and should be kept at his present weight (approximately 13 pounds). His front legs are much shorter than the rear legs, so too much weight will make it hard on him as he ages. Artie came to us with a mass on his shoulder - this has been removed and the biopsy was benign,

Artie is a gentle soul that is great with people and other dogs. He’s not the type of dog that is playful with other dogs, but greets them calmly. He loves to cuddle, sleep in the human’s bed and gives lots of kisses. He loves his walks and being out in the yard. I would not recommend him for an apartment or condo living because he can be vocal when first left alone. A calm dog would likely help with his separation anxiety.

One funny thing with Artie is that he drags his feet - I can always tell when he is coming by the clicking of his paws. Artie would suit a calm home, where someone is home most of the time. He has been a delight to care for on his journey to his forever home.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Artie, a Toronto Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shih Tzu for sale in Toronto, or seeking a Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Toronto.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Toronto already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Toronto breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shih Tzu breeders who help with Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Toronto paves the way for another one to be saved.
