My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

WOOF? Well maybe YARRRRR? Well… I don’t know really because my Foster mom has only heard my sort of bark once, but boy, do I love to make funny noises when I yawn! My Foster mom thinks I’m just about the most beautiful boy, but I’m not keen on that. I just love to love and also lay on a wonderful thing called a COUCH! Boy oh, boy!!! Do I love sleeping on that thing! I just recently got introduced to it since I have lived my life outside. My Foster mom is very amazed at how fast I learn things! I’m a very smart boy that knows how to (scratch at the door when I need to go out) and push the screen door open if I need to go outside! Even if the gates open I don’t make a run for it, I think it’s because I finally like being where there is so much love. I am house broken, and learning sit really well! But I have some more learning to go, but you can get me to do just about anything with a treat in your hand! I use to attack my food like I had never been fed before, but now I know I can leave it in the bowl and eat whenever (what a relief)! I love any kind of yummies! I love to lean on my humans, but when it’s time to sleep I like my own space so I can stretch out! I can’t wait to have a Forever home that I can be lazy and a tad playful in (but I’m not at all rambunctious, foster mom loves that).

Abel came to rescue with his sister Stassi in November and they were previously living outside in a pen. They are about a year and a half old and full of puppy playfulness. They are both expert fence jumpers and will only be placed in a home with a 6 ft wooden privacy fence. He is adjusting wonderfully to being an inside dog and is learning proper indoor manners. He is great with children 8+, but he only had limited access to cats. He seems to be a bit picky about other dogs so he will need slow introductions. He was fine with most of them while at the kennel but had a bit of a run in with a Mastiff. There will be an obedience requirement as part of his adoption to ensure she continues to learn good manners.
Abel came to MAGDRL in November. (5)
Update January 5, 2016
Update on my life!
Man have I gotten playful! I love to sneak away from my foster parents and hide downstairs and then when they come down to find me I jump out in to play mode (almost like I am saying “You found me! You found me!”) I have gotten very good at following a schedule and adapt fast to it (going outside, eating, nap time). My foster mom is very proud that recently she left me home for 6 hours and I didn’t peepee in the house, now that’s a big jump for a puppy that was kept outside almost all his life. I LOVE being around people, and love guys! When I go to the dog park the first things I do is go check out all the humans and get some love! I can be an attention hog at a party, but when it’s alone or nap time, I like to have my own space. I prefer at your feet. I can’t sit and lay down now with no issues and working on stay, but you can get me to do just about anything with a treat in your hand. Can’t wait to meet my forever home and play hide and seek with you!
Cats-No
Kids – 8+
Dogs – selective and doesn’t like yappy small dogs. He needs to be an only dog or with just one other
