My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Rocket. He was caught in a live trap off of Hwy 51 after being clipped by a car and living in a vacant lot. Rocket was very fearful the first week he was here and the shelter manager woudl sit against his kennel door letting him get used to her presence. One day he stuck his muzzle through and started rooting around in her hair and bumping her with his nose. Since he had previously tried biting everyone she proceeded with caution only to discover he had a major attitude adjustment, apparently overnight. Since that day Rocket has loved everyone he's met and has enough energy for 3 dogs put together. Rocket wants to play, play, play and will need a very active home. We think he is 8-10 months old. He no longer favors his leg and appears healthy. Rocket is maybe 30lbs and quite small under all that fur. Many breeds have partial black tongues and although he could have chow in him he could also be what's known as a Throwback Pom mix which can be up to 30lbs. Dog adoption is 130.00 and includes spay/neuter, heartworm testing, age appropriate vaccines including a 3 year rabies, health exam, deworming, and microchipping. Any animal 6 months or older is considered an adult. No animals are vetted until they are adopted as we do not have a vet on staff. Once the animal is adopted we make a vet appointment, and they must go to be vetted before they can go home with an adopter. Call 985.651.7387 for more information regarding adoption.
