MEET JACKIE (aka Clyde)
Jackie-Clyde was born on September 19th 2004 , he arrived into the world with his sister Bon Bon by his side . He is 11 years and 3 months old. He also is an 18 lb red but more Wild Boar with a cute widow’s peak. He is Up to date on all shots and is spayed and a recent dental. He also has a grade 4 heart murmur and is on medication so that it helps his little heart. The cost of the medication is 15-20 a month. Jackie-Clyde cannot go up and down a ramp like his sister, you see JC had back surgery 4 years ago and never regained full use of his rear legs. He can walk and he can move around and go outside and back in again, But it’s just a little harder for him to do it. Along with that, he has bladder and bowel issues, not all the time but once in a while. His foster mother has him in a belly band and will send several with him to his new home. Jackie-Clyde, too, is a very sweet dog. He is less independent than his sister but loves to be on your lap or follow you around as you do your daily chores. He is also crate trained though and will go into his crate when asked. This little gentleman is a very quiet, sweet soul of a dog, he will melt your heart for sure.
He is VERY smart and wants to please and be loved. So if you are a dog person these issues can be worked out, he really is an easy keeper. Jackie-Clyde will do best in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and only older children (over age 12), who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds.
Like all Dachshunds, Jackie Clyde is high energy and enjoys playing and warming his little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around his neighborhood, Jackie-Clyde needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.
OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):
Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.
Reminder that this is a Courtesy Posting for JACK (CLYDE). This dog is not at Oregon Dachshund Rescue. For information, please contact Marie at mrmrszero@comcast.net or call 503.490.0406.
