My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Smokie. I am a 4 year old black n tan, neutered cocker boy. I am looking for a home and someone to love me for the special guy that I am. I was adopted from a SC shelter in Sept of last year and in November, the family turned me back in saying that I am food aggressive and they no longer wanted me.

I am neutered, updated on shots, heartworm and fecal negative. I do have a heart murmur, so these nice folks took me to get an ultrasound. I have not been put on any meds yet, they suggested that we just keep an eye on it until needed. I am dog social, very people friendly and one of the happiest cocker spaniels this rescue has ever taken in. I am a good boy, I love life, people, other dogs and I enjoy love, attention and spending quality time with you. These folks were told by the shelter that I am food aggressive, but they have not seen any signs of this issue being a problem. They have put their hands in my food while I'm eating, fed me on the floor and taken the bowl away before I am done. They have not heard one growl from me yet, but they have seen me eat my food like I was starved to death to get it. Maybe, I just wasn't being fed enough. I have adjusted well and now know that my food will not be taken away. I am not wolfing it down anymore. I will be a wonderful companion for someone to love and share a great life with, please give me a 2nd chance to find my perfect forever, loving home. A fenced backyard is an added plus......... I would love to be your new best friend and a great walking pal to get my exercise.

If you are interested in adopting this very special cocker boy, please send an email message to: larrydonnacarp@aol.com for an adoption application. Our adoption fee is $300, and includes all of the vetting needs for this dog while in our care.
