My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Blackberry Pie and his siblings came to us from Missouri. We don’t know anything about the parents, but looking at his thick, fluffy coat we think mom might be a Australian shepherd and dad perhaps a Black Lab. Blackberry Pie is the largest of the litter, weighing a solid 12 pounds--his foster home nicknamed him "Chunk". He is also one of the most outgoing. Given the choice between sleeping in his crate or being with his people, he chooses people. He has rather large paws and might grow to be a large dog. Since his parentage is just a guess, only those willing to take pot-luck in terms of his ultimate breed and size should apply!

Although we are still learning about their unique personalities, we know these pups are all really sweet. They will be about 11 weeks old Thanksgiving Day. Blackberry is good with kids and other dogs, and is well on his way to being house-trained. He has a sweet, laid back temperament. As you can see, one of his favorite activities is eating, the other--resting on his doggy bed!

Because he is still young, he needs a home where someone is there part or all of the day to get him potty-trained and keep him socialized. Obedience training or puppy school is also required.

You can meet Blackberry Pie at his current foster home, Wilmette Pet Center, 625 Green Bay Rd., during normal store hours (847-251-6750, www.wilmettepetcenter.com). Though you may want this sweet guy all for yourself and hope to take him home on the spot, please know you first have to go through our normal application process.

His adoption fee of $375 each includes: vet exam, DAPP (distemper combo) vaccination, bordetella vaccination, microchip, deworming, flea and tick prevention, heartworm preventative and neuter.
