My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pumpkin Pie and her siblings came to us from Missouri just in time for Thanksgiving! We don’t know anything about her parents, but looking at her face, coloring, and thick fluffy coat, we think there might be some Beagle in the mix and possibly Australian shepherd. Pumpkin Pie is one of the more petite pups and weighs just under 10 pounds. Since her parentage is just a guess, only those willing to take pot-luck in terms of her ultimate breed and size should apply!

She will be about 11 weeks old Thanksgiving Day. Pumpkin Pie is good with kids and other dogs, and is well on her way to being house-trained. She has an active, engaging personality. She can be vocal--she barks if curious, and sometimes cries when put into her crate, but not for long. She is curious and smart, but not "into everything" in an annoying way. She does her business immediately when taken outside; no accidents in her crate, only one or two in the house at her first foster home. Like her name, Pumkpin Pie is a real sweetie!

Because she is still young, she needs a home where someone is there part or all of the day to finish her potty-trained and keep her socialized. Obedience training or puppy school is also required.

You can meet Pumpkin Pie at her current foster home, Wilmette Pet Center, 625 Green Bay Rd., during normal store hours (847-251-6750, www.wilmettepetcenter.com). Though you may want this sweet gal all for yourself and hope to take her home on the spot, please know you first have to go through our normal application process.

Her adoption fee of $375 includes: vet exam, DAPP (distemper combo) vaccination, bordetella vaccination, microchip, deworming, flea and tick prevention, heartworm preventative and spay.
