My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

When you meet a dog like General, you just have to wonder what in the world could have happened? How did this nice, friendly, loving dog end up as a stray on the city streets all alone at his age? General is about 9 years old and it's very sad that he is in need of a good home and hoping for a chance to start over with a new family, when he should be enjoying himself in the prime of his life. He came to us from our Newark facility and poor General was completely emaciated and sick with pneumonia. This strong and resilient boy kept in good spirits all during his medical treatment and he is so happy to feeling great these days and have a clean bill of health. General is still a little thin, but he's put on quite a bit of weight and has a healthy appetite. Please don't be put off by his age because he has got lots of spunk and energy, and just give him a ball and he'll show you that he can still play like a puppy! He absolutely loves going for walks and enjoys trotting around in our exercise yard, sniffing around and picking up every toy that he comes across. General is very well mannered and takes treats very gently. He sits perfectly when asked, offers you a pawshake in friendship, and walks very well on a leash too. General could get along with a well behaved, mellow dog, given the time to get to know them, and he doesn't mind cats at all. He loves people of all ages and he is dreaming of a loving home with a family that will care for him and dote on him for the rest of his days. File#25684 10/22/15
