Additional info:
Toby has a happy, easy going personality. He is curious, smart as a whip and he minds really well if he respects you. But his respect has to be earned! He needs to know that his owner is in charge and he responds well to a firm hand. This boy is high-energy; he needs a lot of daily exercise (two hour hikes are nothing!) and a patient, experienced hand. He is obedient, incredibly loyal, eager to please and fully trained. He can be a little rambunctious at home but responds well to correction. Nevertheless, we recommend a secure home and a secure outdoor area, as he can be a little bit of an escape artist if he's left alone in a yard all day. He is very protective and would make a great watch dog. Toby will defend his territory and may go after strangers who come into his yard if he is not properly introduced to them. He is crate trained and housetrained and knows basic commands. He is fine around groups of strangers and really enjoys meeting new people. Toby gets along fine with dogs who are bigger than he is but he doesn't get along with dogs who are smaller. Perhaps he would be happier as an only dog in a home with no kids under the age of 13. Toby has recently graduated from training and we will provide support for his new family to continue implementing good behaviors.
He gets along well with strangers Toby has a happy, easygoing personality. He has a big heart and an even bigger smile. Let's get him into his forever home real soon.
