Do you want to be truly inspired on a daily basis? Meet our beautiful Mya who despite being born blind and then dumped at a high kill shelter, continues to have an incredible zest for life and a genuine love for people. You may remember when Mya came into rescue, at five months old, with her sister Coco. At the time, we believed that the girls were bonded so we adopted them into a fantastic home together. After only a couple weeks, it was clear that Mya and Coco were actually perfectly happy spending one on one time with their family, taking separate walks and going on individual adventures. In fact, they seemed to flourish more independently so when Mya and one of the other resident dogs began having a difficult time living together, we decided that it would be best to separate Mya and Coco and bring Mya back into rescue. We are thrilled to have her! She has a prance to her step and will bounce around, following your voice until she finds you and once she does, she can't get enough snuggles, hugs, and kisses. Mya adores human touch and is genuinely content just to be around her people. While she has successfully lived with other dogs, (including her current foster brother, Tommy) and has done well with meeting them in public, we think she would thrive as the only dog in the home. Mya is now approximately two years old and 45 pounds, crate trained, housebroken when kept on a schedule, and has done well with children and cats. She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and ready to find her snuggle buddy. About One More Dog Rescue (formerly RSHT)

About Our Rescue Group...

One More Dog Rescue, formerly Ruff Start Happy Tails, believes that animals deserve our love, compassion, and respect. Our purpose is to rescue dogs and to provide care for orphaned, stray, and abused dogs. Through rehabilitation, socialization, and adoption, we strive to provide a humane service to all dogs that come into our rescue. Additionally, we provide awareness about the prevention of animal abuse and neglect as well as spay/neuter programs and their important effect on the dog overpopulation crisis.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We are a Connecticut-based 501c3 dog rescue that will adopt to approved applicants in the surrounding areas.

Our Adoption Process...

One More Dog Rescue (OMD), formerly Ruff Start Happy Tails, requires all potential adopters to fill out an adoption application and agree to a home visit prior to any adoption. Once the application is approved, a meet and greet will be scheduled between the potential adopter (s) and the dog. If the dog is adopted through One More Dog, an adoption contract must be signed, and we ask that a donation in the amount of $350.00 be made at the time of adoption to help our rescue cover a portion of the costs we incur through pull fees, vetting, and training.
