My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ROGER is a 7 year old neutered male red fox Lab who weighs 68 pounds. We don't know if Roger was a stray or an owner surrender. His former life is a complete mystery. But one thing for sure is that Roger is an absolute sweetheart! He's looking for a family willing to take it slow and help him find his groove. Roger was terrified and started to break down at the shelter but has blossomed under the care of a local rescue. He is a little nervous with new people and situations but is your BFF once you earn his trust. When he is a little nervous, he may “talk” – not a bark – it’s like he starts to bark but then it morphs into “talk”. Maybe he’s trying to say “hey, give me just a minute or so to get used to this”. He does this when playing, too. The local rescue said "He is a nervous fellow but once he gets used to you and gets into the groove he is a lot better and relaxes. I do think he would be best with a fence and enjoy it. The best day was a couple of weeks after he came to us, I saw him rolling around in the grass."
Roger has been with many dogs and is good with them. Roger was cat tested and ignored them.
Roger is approved for kids ages 10+.

Update (1/19): Roger is a sweetheart. He loves his foster siblings, long walks and exploring the yard. He has come so far in the time he has been in his foster home. Roger is now happy and excited with his daily routine. Everywhere he goes people are very curious about his unique and handsome markings.

Update (1/13): After spending months scared and shutdown in a shelter, when Roger arrived at his foster home he was fearful of everything. With just a few weeks of learning about living inside from his foster siblings, he has come to life. As you can see from the big goofy grin, Roger is full of silly sweetness. He loves soft beds, good food, treats, naps, kisses and other dogs. He is in wonderful physical shape, given his energy and health, we estimate his age to be around 7. Roger needs to be adopted into a home with another dog and a solid fenced yard. With patience and understanding, he will continue to bloom into the wonderful dog he was born to be.

Update (12/28): Roger had a wonderful Christmas Day filled with extra treats and new toys to play with. He is a sweet dog who needs to be adopted to a home with another dog and solid fenced yard. His favorite things include napping.

Update (12/22): Roger and his foster brother are getting along beautifully. The resident dog has decided that Roger is so sweet and a fantastic friend. They love to play chase and explore the yard together, then come inside and snuggle. In his forever home, Roger will need another new friend. When he is feeling shy, a buddy gives him the reassurance he needs.

Update (12/04): Roger is a sweet gentleman who has shown us that he walks nicely on a leash. He's learning the wonders of living indoors and sleeping on a soft bed. He also takes treats gently. Roger is eager to please and in search of a family who is patient in reinforcing what he's learned so far. He gets along well with other dogs and seems to be happy when he's around other dogs.
