Willie's Story...
Wilford is a 10-15 year old Shiba Inu/husky mix who weighs about 40lbs. He came to Senior Dog Haven after he was abandoned in Philadelphia and living in an empty building. The neighborhood store owner was feeding him but decided Wilford had a better chance at finding a home if he were in a shelter. SDHH welcomed Wilford into our family at the beginning of October. He’s now healthy and ready for a “fur-ever” home. Wilford currently lives with several dogs and gets along with them very well. While he would like to play and romp around, his arthritic elbows keep his play to a minimum and he settles for exploring the yard and hanging out with his friends. Wilford was recently fitted for a special orthotic brace for one of his elbows and his foster family is monitoring his acclimation to the brace. Willie is a true gentleman. He is a sweet and gentle guy who enjoys just being around people and other dogs. Willie would do well in a calm home that doesn’t have too many stairs. Why Adoption is a Great Option

Willie, a Wilmington Shiba Inu/Husky dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Shiba Inu/Husky for sale in Wilmington, or seeking a Shiba Inu/Husky dog from a breeder in Wilmington.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Wilmington already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Wilmington breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Shiba Inu/Husky breeders who help with Shiba Inu/Husky rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Wilmington paves the way for another one to be saved.
