My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello everyone! My name is Cleo. I am a 1-year-old spayed female Chihuahua mix. I weigh in at just under 13 pounds.

I would describe myself as sweet, gentle, and loving. I can be a little on the shy side when first put in new situations, but I do warm up quickly. I wouldn't consider myself to be a very confident dog, so I'm looking for a family that understands my need to ease into things. Do you think you could be the family for me?

I love to spend time with my human friends. I always want to be right by their side just in case they feel like picking me up or petting me. I wouldn't want to miss out on any attention! If you were to adopt me, I promise to be your loyal, constant companion and we'll be best friends forever!

Aside from loving all my human pals, I also get along great with other dogs!

There isn't much background information on me that I can give you. I was brought into a local high-kill shelter as a stray. I'm not sure how long I was on the streets for. It could have been a few days or a few weeks. It's easy to lose track of things like that when your main focus is just trying to survive.

I spent about 9 days at the shelter before CageFree heard about me. Thank goodness they had room for me in their rescue. I'm not sure how much longer the shelter would have allowed me to stay. I know that a lot of dogs don't make it out alive and being that I'm not exactly one-in-a-million when it comes to my breed, I consider myself to be one of the lucky ones! It was probably my unique look and my wonderful personality that kept me off the list of dogs to be euthanized. In fact, the shelter had so much faith that I would get adopted that they spayed me before I had a home to go to. That's not something that happens often.

I'm seeking a loving family who will ensure that I am always safe and that I never end up on the streets again. I will probably need an active family as I am still a young, playful pup. Exploring the world with you sounds like fun and I could definitely benefit from the exposure! If you think that I would make a great companion, please don't hesitate to contact CageFree and tell them you want to meet me!
