My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Name: Bessie
Sex: Female
Breed: Lab Mix
Age: 2 – 3 years old
Weight: approx. 30 lbs
Good with: Dogs, kids and People. Curious about cats.

Bessie is a loving female lab mix approx. 2-3 years old. She is very sweet and friendly and does well with other dogs, kids and babies! She absolutely loves kids! She is curious about cats and loves cat litter boxes.

She prefers sleeping on the couch or in her human's bed, but her foster is working on getting her to enjoy her crate! Bessie loves long walks, runs and playing in the backyard!

Bessie has some trouble sharing her food. However, she calms down quickly with just a water spritz and understands that that behavior is not welcome! She responds well to food treats and is highly trainable. She is working on jumping, nipping/mouthing, and leash pulling. She can also take guarding duties a bit too seriously, barking at any strange noises, and it can be hard to calm her down. But hey- she's just trying to keep her people safe! Bessie is a very smart dog and has learnt a whole host of commands since being fostered ('sit','lie down','no bite','drop it','shake','bed')- so she will definitely improve on her few bad habits with training and time. Bessie is very housetrained and never begs or steals food.

Bessie has a lot of energy that can be easily solved with daily exercise (runs or walks) and playing in the yard. Having another dog in the home may be helpful to tire her out!

Bessie’s all-time favorite thing to do is to follow her humans around so she doesn't like being left alone. A family with someone home most of the time is probably the best match for her since she would LOVE to be the center of someone’s world. Bessie might even be a great sidekick for someone who works out on a ranch or farm! Her foster is working on leaving her home alone more and more so that she is adjusted for those times that being with her are just not possible.

Overall, Bessie is an intelligent and loving dog who needs a home that can give her a lot of love!
